hEX S è un router Gigabit Ethernet a cinque porte per luoghi in cui non è richiesta la connettività wireless. Rispetto a hEX, hEX S dispone anche di una porta SFP e di un'uscita PoE sull'ultima porta.
È economico, piccolo e facile da usare, ma allo stesso tempo è dotato di una potentissima CPU dual core da 880 MHz e 256 MB di RAM, capace di tutte le configurazioni avanzate supportate da RouterOS. Il dispositivo ha un'uscita USB 2.0, PoE per la porta Ethernet n. 5 e una gabbia SFP da 1,25 Gbit / s.
La crittografia hardware IPsec (~ 470 Mbps) e il pacchetto server Dude sono supportati, lo slot microSD su di esso fornisce una velocità r / w migliorata per l'archiviazione di file e Dude.
